Either Garms Are Obsolete Or Men Are
You'll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that mask you use
REAL or fake? Fast ORSLOW? Pre or POST? We’ll answer those questions in this week’s TWR. We also have some updates out of Miami (derogatory), more degenerates are caught up in gambling, and an actual GOAT continues to bring shame to his name. Plus, some great writing from Brandon Scott Herrell and Zach Harris.

TACTICAL UPDATES
HEADWEAR
Curbs Strapback Hat by Real Skateboards

The Curb Boom of 2020 never really ended, as much as we tried to quit those slappies. Some days you don’t wanna pop your board, and that’s just fine! Hit the low impact spot in the Curbs Strapback by Real and get some extra length on those slappies and lots of plaudits from the OGs that really live that life. Its wool-like appearance and applique letters with leather strap and metal buckle closure make for a Real Banger of a cap more reminiscent of one of those high-end things you see on Graphic Designer Types rather than curb skaters, and that’s what makes it great.
OUTERWEAR
Vintage Washed Coach Jacket With Fleece Lining by orSlow

The coach jacket is a critical piece of any Real Soldier’s outerwear assortment. Whether its worn as a light outer covering or placed atop a hoodie for a little extra warmth, the magic of the coach jacket is in its ability to layer in a multitude of ways and have you Really Dressing like a Real Layerer knows. Brands usually turn to the coach jacket for an entry-level piece into an outerwear offering, typically offered at an affordable price and offering a great canvas for graphics on the chest and back. This beauty from orSlow is anything but entry-level and brings all the hallmarks of the meticulous detailing, deliberate material selection, and timeless designs that Japan’s orSlow has come to be known for. You’ve got the standards of any great coach jacket, like a snap front and drawstring hem with front welt pockets. But it really pops off thanks to the WW2-era reverse sateen cotton outer giving it a vintage look and a fluffy grey fleece lining for warmth through multiple seasons. The silhouette is relaxed and chill like most of orSlow’s garms, while the design and production that goes into everything they do is anything but.
LOWER UNIFORM
Style 1062 by Post Jeans and Liv Ryan

Ready for some Real Freak Shit? Feast your eyes on these psycho jawns from SF’s Post Jeans and NY’s Liv Ryan. It’s a pairing of visionaries in their respective fields, with Post blazing new trails in American-made denim and Ryan specializing in crazy handmade garms utilizing deadstock vintage textiles. The result is a pair of jeans for only the Boldest Soldiers, packed with spectacular details beyond what’s immediately recognizable. You’ll undoubtedly notice the contrast pockets and waistband, which show off the wrong-side of the denim and feature contrast stitching and custom embroidery for even more flair. The unsung and unseen hero of these trousers is the back patch: it’s laser-cut in NYC out of leather stripped from the seats of a BMW E46. For more on Post Jeans, check out their interview with the homies at Village Psychic that goes deeper into their process and includes a quick promo of some SF heads demonstrating the jeans in action. For more on Liv Ryan, check out her site and webstore with an unbelievable selection of one of a kind shit.
FIELD NOTES
YIN AND YANG
For some reason Steph Curry hit the tunnel wearing the same jacket as Devin Booker on Monday night. If you still don’t believe that Steph is one of the most swagless of all time, this is our Closing Argument. The fit would be Rough on its own, but juxtaposed against Book in the same damn jacket on the same damn night makes it look downright laughable. He really tried to set it off with the Book Blazers, which sort of comes off as Desperate for some of Book’s juice. Maybe he’s setting the stage for a blockbuster offseason link up in the desert, or maybe he’s just doing the most to land that twilight-years Nike deal. Either way, it’s giving Sad.
MIAMI IS BAD
Every douchebag in America pulled up to Miami this week to celebrate the College Football National Championship Game. Headlines included a bunch of Nazi “influencers” doing Nazi BullShit, the mayor sending police officers to the home of a citizen who criticized him on Facebook, and finally Miami’s douchebag quarterback throwing a game-ending interception to hand the National Championship to Indiana. Miami sucks!
GAMBLING IS BAD
Gambling is a Very Bad Thing. As more states Legalize It, we’re seeing more people caught up in schemes and plots than ever before. Hot on the heels of the NBA poker scandal, a bunch of dumbasses have been arrested for point-shaving in college hoops. Gambling of any kind is dangerously addictive, and we personally think it’s bad to have the ability to gamble on anything at any time via the evil Mobile Device. It’s even worse that every single popular culture event, from sports to The Golden Globes, is plastered with gambling ads and presented by the gaming companies. Everyone is free to make their own decisions, but we suggest treading lightly with That Shit, especially those Soldiers already prone to going overboard.
ADDITIONAL INTELLIGENCE
ESCAPING THE INFINITE GOON CAVE
Brandon Scott Herrell, of Portland and Earth\Studies and other wonderful creativity, penned a barnburner on his Substack recently, putting words to the feeling of dread and angst and frustration that many of us have been feeling lately. It feels beyond the normal S.A.D. many suffer this time of year, and we felt a sense of catharsis reading this essay full of fury and unhappiness that refused to put a fake smile on like society wants us to. We also fully share the sentiments around Artificial Intelligence and the prevalence of That BullShit in every aspect of life in 2026. This was a refreshing reminder that it’s quite alright, and in fact Healthy and Good, to feel your feelings. Sharing them is even better.
ZACH HARRIS INTERVIEWS DASHAWN JORDAN
#skatetwitter Philly Commando Zach Harris of Sole Retriever caught up with Dashawn Jordan for a chat about his upcoming Arizona-themed Nike Dunk SB colorway. It’s got great insight into Dashawn’s material selection and design process. Shout out to Dashawn for putting on for The Valley.
