Adjacent PDX was the inaugural PNW skateboarding weekend organized by Alex Fazekas-Boone of Adjacency Bias. The weekend struck a perfect balance between interesting skateboarding conversations a la Slow Impact and ripping street skating a la All City Showdown. It’s a critical time for skateboarding - the industry is contracting after the Covid boom and companies are staring down catastrophic tariffs on pretty much every critical product they make. Talks featured pro skaters, company owners, filmmakers, landscape architects, and community organizers discussing topics ranging from how much filmers are paid compared to their output all the way to how we can engage with our local communities and governments to re-think the standard approach to skatepark design.
We spent several days In The Field attending the talks at Portland State, skating Portland’s hottest (and Shittiest) ledges, and documenting the cracking attire worn by local tastemakers and many visiting comrades from many different regiments of The War Effort. We ended the weekend with more zoots bunned than clips stacked, but it was really all about having the opportunity to gather the troops and vibe. We can’t thank Alex, and everyone behind the scenes, enough for bringing so many people together for a banging weekend. See you next year!!
Da Vinci was the meetup spot for the early crew to warm up and bullshit before the official events kicked off at Esplanade on Friday evening.

This guy Nigel always has a smile on his face. He flew to PDX from Dublin with a 7 hour layover in Detroit, so he’s also extremely delirious.
Templeton, in addition to moderating two panel discussions, curated an art show covering the walls of Commonwealth that highlighted the great work of local skaters and artists. Here’s his collage work under the moniker Mostly Collage.
Taj (center) also curated a mini-group show of art that immortalized Portland’s legendary skate spots
